Water Supply
A basic safe and reliable water supply to urban and rural communities around the world has been a key target of development strategies for several decades. In particular, the Millennium Development Goals present targets for halving the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water by year 2015.
Such targets incorporate both extending the level of service as well as improvement of existing services, with a greater focus on community participation to ensure commitment and sustainable solutions.
